The course begins with definitions of influencers, hobby/business differentiation and proving profit motive. It then discusses income sources and overlooked income items, followed by discussion of expenses unique to influencers. It then analyzes entity choices and unexpected issues, concluding with 5 case studies.
At the conclusion of this class the student should understand what defines an influencer, different levels of influencers and how an influencer makes money. It then takes the student through an analyses of requirements to deduct expenses as a business with particular emphasis on proving a profit motive. The tax aspects of income and hidden income sources lead to an in-depth discussion of particularly troublesome influencer expenses such as clothing, travel, meals and vehicles. It ends with an overview of entity choice suggestions, multi-state tax issues and 5 case studies.
